House Hunting

This morning I met a couple of real-estate agents - one lady who know pretty much everyone on the island including Ronnie Jackson.  She showed me the following in order of lease favorite to most attractive prospective future home.

This place is an older home which has a nice garden and above-ground pool.  But it's old and even with a fresh coat of paint it remains an older home renovated.  The location is between an abandoned lot overgrown with grass and a home of similar age and condition.

The second place is a huge single family house.  The location is nice - it's squeezed in between two similarly large houses on a street that runs straight to the supermarket, hairdresser, and strip-mall.  The place would need some work: fresh coat of paint, new furniture, and some decoration that goes with it's size.  The following will sound weird: the place is too big to be nice.

The place second in line to be our future home is a brand-new townhouse in this gated community of about 10 to 15.  The area is outside the main residential area so there is actually lots of greenspace around the compound.  The place is quite big but a little dark due to lack of windows.  It already has a 55" TV :-)

Finally, saving the best for last, is this townhouse in Bamboo Villas - a gated community of 12 units with pool and BBQ area.  There is lots of grass space and Clara would have a blast running around.  The video speaks for itself ... regardless, here are a few extra pictures I quickly snapped with my phone:

  1. Looks like you had a hard time in choosing the house that suits your requirements. Anyway, thank you for sharing those videos and photos. You’re lucky to have a fabulous house with a spacious yard. I can only imagine the fun that you’ll have once you moved in. I’ll be looking forward to more updates. Cheers!

  2. If you are looking for a home, I have some advice that can really go a long way, do your homework before, during, and after you find something. Just because it is the job of the realtor, don't assume they can do everything. Pick up the slack and do some work when you can to make the process go even faster and easier.
